2.0 exhaust

Post by Bvan » Wed Jul 29, 2015 6:18 pm

So the whistle I swore was a tensioner bearing is actually from the exhaust. Having climbed under I'm unable to find the leak, no tell tale soot, blowing or visible holes but it is quite rusty. There are a number of heat shields and I'm wondering if one might be covering a hole. The centre section seems worse than the back box. I believe the back box is the same for the 3 engines, am I right in deducing the 2.0 & v6 use the same centre section? I'm thinking of changing the centre first.

If you start the engine and get someone to put the sole of their shoe or similar over the tail pipe (block the pipe)you should be able to see/hear the leak.

All HSG to be observed.

PS, have I met you somewhere before.

we havnt met but the front down pipe is actually a twin wall section, and the inner skin usually has a leak which echo's onto the outer skin, is this what you are hearing.
maybe cut off the outer weld up the inner, then weld back on the outer.
