roof problems

Post by peanutcrusher » Wed Jul 22, 2015 9:16 pm

Hi all

I'm hoping this is something very simple.
I try to put my roof up today.
I had the engine running, the hand brake on the gear select set to park.
i press the button for the roof to lift the beeping starts but no roof lift, anyone know what is wrong or know where to start looking for the problem.
Bongo now work later !!! :) :)

How long since it was last raised ? Some have reported that the rubber seal can stick to the metal roof, so run a credit card around under the seal.

Try operating the raise/lower switch several times for a second or two in each position, if there is corrosion causing the motors to stall it might just be sufficient to let the motors to start to turn and clear out the corrosion, after that with the roof up look up this Factsheet on how to clean the motors: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... repair.pdf

ok i have checked the micro switch on the hand brake, I have also removed the switch for lifting the roof and cleaned this but still not motor sounds just a beep beep.
I have checked to make sure the aft is not stuck to the roof by running a card under the seal.
It's looking more and more like motors i'm guessing even thou i have had no problem with the roof going up in the past.

My roof failed in the same way as yours. One day fine, next day nothing. After a temp fix by fitting an exchange 2nd hand motor, I bit the bullet and bought 2 new motors. Its been fine since, but it cost a bit :-( To be expected I guess on an ageing AFT bit of novel design
