Extreme Windscreen wipers

Post by bongowight » Tue Jul 21, 2015 10:38 pm

When I put my windscreen wipers on they are very fierce and the one on the drivers side actually goes off the edge of windscreen onto the pillar ! Tried adjusting but they just went back to how they were after a few wipes, any tips on shortening the sweep of the wipers?

Have a look under the bonnet, the mechanism is likely coming appart.
Take a torch, toilet roll, and tea bags.

FYI ... Wiper blade sizes :-

Front off side 600mm (24 inch)
Front near side 400mm (16 inch)
Rear 430mm (17 inch) but 400mm will fit fine

Hello, I have had this problem too. Yesterday though the wipers stopped wiping altogether. The motor was working so I worked out it was mechanical. The arm has come loose from the rotating bit. I put it back and the wipers are back working. I think though that there should be a plastic bit to go over the ball joint?

Anyway, whilst I was doing this I noticed that there was a loose nut on the rotating bit which may have been the cause of the wipers being very aggressive and going beyond their normal bounds. Worth having a look to see if everything is nice and tight.
