New Fact Sheet: Fuel Pump for New Shape Bongo

Post by Ian » Tue Jul 21, 2015 9:05 am

Bongo Towers has been receiving queries from members who own new shape diesel Bongos and have problems with fuel starvation, stalling, and associated problems with the fuel injector pump. But there is very little material to go on. There is some useful information on the Russian club site at www.mikrob.ru. And we have an exploded diagram on Lush at page http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html. But not a lot more information; a search here on the Forum reveals very little.

We would like to collate all known data in to one fact sheet. If anyone has any experience in these matters, or suggestions to make, or can point us to source materials, it would be much appreciated.

This is another one of those occasions where you wonder whether an appeal to Mazda Japan could possibly be worth a go. Our Helen has had responses from Mazda before and was considering contacting them again when we discussed it on a recent post. I wonder if this might provide and interesting 'hook' to get the conversation going.

Interestingly, Bongospares are selling a reconditioned unit on an exchange basis for an eye watering £1440:

It's nice to know that they are obtainable. But what are the main differences between early and later pumps? Do they have the same problems with perished seals? Are there any other recurring problems? And do 1999 pumps differ significantly from 2002 pumps?

I would say the big difference according to George is about £1000.00

One in particular is the later model is "Fly by Wire" type.

I would say the big difference according to George is about £1000.00

Hi
Mike..
I've noted it in the diary...thanks for the well-wishes!...Just done 3 Cardiologist trips, Opthalmologist and got the neurologist...can't offer any advice on which is the best one, but the Cardio bod did hook me up to a sensor pack to wear at home, and give me some nice tablets to play with...and the bone-fiddler made me a bit depressed a few years ago saying I need an op on the spine...so I wouldn't recommend any for the moment!...best suffer and not know
Cheers
