Coolant Type

Post by yorksbob » Wed Jul 15, 2015 4:06 pm

There seems to be a lot of debate about coolant types and whether or not the different coloured coolants can be mixed without detrimental effects.

My Bongo has the green coolant but I am struggling to source a bottle of same and wondered if you can mix the blue variety with the green? Alternatively, can someone point me to a stockist of the green coolant - I don't have a leak in the system it's just to make up a solution in case I need to top up any time.

Thanks

You can't rely on colour to determine the type & there can be some messy consequences if incompatible types are mixed together. Best bet is to drain, thoroughly flush & then refill with a type / brand you can easily get hold of. Personally, I went for Halfords longlife stuff that will last for 5 years rather than 2 as is the case for conventional types.

Bob, the antifreeze that you have in at the moment Could be Comma Green brand, but you can safely use this type of product.....
