Does the Bongo have OBDII?

As above I know cars were supposed to have OBDII since about 1996. With these being Japanese do they have an OBDII compliant port?

I think I read somewhere about a diagnostics port but that involved using a volt meter or shorting pins to find error codes.

Mine is a 1999 2.5td

It is locked - did anyone ever get any further? I have forscan for my mondeo and a modified ELM adapter which gives access to two different systems on the Mondeo (simple and more advanced). I also have a bluetooth ELM adapter.

Some of the very latest models it seems have OBDII, at least one person has said that they got it working, but I've not seen any further confirmation of this.

Mine is only a 1999 so certainly not the latest but it is a facelift version.

Do you recall any info from the person who got it working? Did they have an OBDII port or did they have to use an adapter? Did they say what protocol it used?

Have you got a particular fault that needs tracing? The workshop manual shows how you can interrogate the ECU to read them, but unless you have the Mazda diagnostic unit mentioned in the manual then you are limited to using a bulb, meter or scope to display the readings.

There has been mention of using ForTran which someone had some sucess with. I've got a converter that changes the Bongo diagnostic port to conventional OBDII connector, but when I plugged my multi-purpose scanner, it reported as note stored DTCs. Either that means I've got no faults or it hasn't read the protocol.

One of things on my never ending 'to do' list is to make a small diagnostic reader which connects the appropriate pins via switches as I'm not keen on the idea of sticking paper clips into sockets with 30A or so of current which could do damage if connected incorrectly. Will report back if/when I get round to it.

No I don't have a fault - I was more interested in being able to read live data if it was OBDII compliant. I'm looking at fitting an Android headunit which could run Torque and connect to an OBDII port and give all the displays etc on the headunit.

It is looking doubtful that it will work but I'll read up on it.
