Bongo coolant alarm fitting

Hi

I bought one of the £20 coolant alarms from eBay but now I need someone to fit it for me.

I live in Bracklesham Bay near Chichester.

Would anybody be able to recommend someone who's not expensive?

As long as it comes with instructions, any competent garage should be able to fit it. I'm always a bit concerned about some of the cheaper offerings, so be careful out there. It would a double irony if something intended to alert you of failure had itself quietly failed before the relevant failure event arrived. Does it have a self test facility?

Spec looks OK to me but no idea what component quality is like and/or after-purchase support. I fitted a Haydn alarm when they first came out and its been great for 9 years. I was persuaded that the design had good pedigree (been in service in Oz for some years before being adapted to the Bongo) and was strict on component spec. On that basis I was happy to pay the higher price for peace of mind. £20 posted sounds amazing value to me, which is why I flagged up risks.

I reckon it shouldn't take a handyman mechanic more than an hour to fit - you could probably get a mobile one to come to you as no special/garage tools/facilities needed.

Then again, no decent handyman/mechanic should be charging more than £45 to fit his £20 one?

Yes you are spot on £45.00 fitted by trained technicians is a very good price.

Hi Mike, forgot to mention for anyone going down the DIY route would find using this little add on ,fitting of this type unit a Piece Of Cake.

The reason a lot of suppliers don't add it to their products would mean an extra Liability on their behalf.

Very easy job with a piggy back fuse ( mini )
Any one should be able to help
There s a big rubber grommet behind glove box to get cable into engine bay
You should have no probs with that low coolant alarm
I've had one for a couple of years and thay sell loads of them
Get a engine temp alarm to go with it and your double coverd

One point to be mindful of with the inexpensive LCA is that you have remember to press the test button every time you start the engine.

Thats a great tip thank you, should I buy one or two?

Only one is required but you could get a spare, it will come in handy if you decide to fit a digital temperature gage...
