MPV vs Motorhome / 8 seater vs 5 seater

I'm just in the process of buying a Bongo.

It is a 5 seater with mid conversion. It has a fixed kitchen unit (sink and hob), and a sleeping space for 4.

Looking at the V5 document it is registered as an MPV and is registered as having 8 seats.

So... I've read a bit on here about them, some people saying change it, some people saying it is hard to change it, some saying it is easy, some saying you need to change it for insurance, some saying you don't!

I'm planning on going with C&CC for insurance as they came out by far the cheapest. I clicked on motorhome insurance for the quote and filled in all the details - beyond that point I don't think it asked if it was registered as an MPV or motorhome.

What would be the standard advice - I'm thinking of having a go at changing it over - sending photos to show the conversion and altering the number of seats - I won't have the other seats so have no plan of ever going back to 8.

Does this sound the best way to go? Does it have any negative points? I think I read about ferry crossings being more if registered as a motorhome? (Not too worried about that though)
