Interior floor plan with dimensions?

Post by nicxf » Tue Jun 02, 2015 8:15 am

Hi, does anyone have an interior, empty floor plan diagram/drawing for the bongo, that they wouldn't mind sharing? I'm hoping to get a custom conversion on my van that will fit around my large mobility scooter when it's loaded, and I'd really like to be able to draw something up to give the converters an accurate idea of what I'm looking to do. I've done rough plans but they're not very well measured... ...so I was hoping someone who knows what they're doing might have drawn one already, that I could use? :D
Thanks!

Hi nicxf
Have the firm you're using done any Bongos before? If they have, I should have thought that they might already have dimensions and plans that they could mail you, which would be a far better indication as to whether your scooter will fit. I would expect that a good converter would have come across this problem before, as there are quite a few members with similar issues, and I'll bet one or two more will be watching with interest.
If they haven't come across this issue, I think I'd be inclined to ask a few more converters!...but, in the meantime, I expect someone will have some dimensions for you!
Good Luck
Cheers

Hi - Rita thanks for that, interesting but not quite what I'm looking g for as what I'd really like is the actual floor plan showing where the wheel arches and foot well are. But useful!

Helen - no, they haven't done a Bongo before, though have done various vw models, and transit vans as well as one or two other odd ones. They were the only company really local to me who were prepared to give it a go (and really very helpful too); the closest bongo converters I got in touch with gave me short shrift and said they didn't do custom jobs. Is there any key stuff I should make sure these guys should know before taking it on? I've already explained about the engine under the seats and the need to be able to pflip them back for access.

I already know the scooter fits, the question now is building a conversion around where it sits and the hoist that lifts it in.

You'd be far better off sticking with your rough plans
And taking the bongo and scooter into the converters for them to do measurements
Anything doesn't fit when complete and it's not your fault

Hi Rita, yes I looked at that one....only seems to show one wheel arch and I'm not sure what the other box bit represents...

Gasy - that's a good point! Maybe I should be wary of getting too technical.

Hi
nicxf...
Have you any photos of the scooter in the van, and have you already got the hoist fitted? Also, when will you be using the cooker / conversion?.....will you have an awning fitted?
My reason for asking is that I am wondering about a slide-out conversion behind the front seat, with the conversion on rails, with drop-down legs to support it out of the vehicle. I have the address of a company that make extrusions for machine casings that fit the very purpose. They are rather expensive, but extra-ordinarily strong , and I'd looked into making a sliding roof-rack with such rails, gutter-mounted for an AFT Bongo....the plan was shelved in favour of a trailer!
Cheers

I'll see if I have the sketch up plan still.

The box is my fridge footprint and the other arch is covered by a panel. :-)

Thanks for all the replies. :-)
I've already got the hoist fitted, had it done earlier this year. I've now taken the van to a local convertors, left it with them for the day along with the big scooter so they could take some measurements and the great news is they have a plan, so are having my van to do the work in a couple of weeks time. Very excited, it'll be great being able to use it as a camper again and hopefully with their ideas it's going to make it very easy for me to manage again. Plus I got to choose some funky colours! =D>
