anyone recommend a lights on warning buzzer?
Hi guys. Anyone out there who has had to fit a warning alarm for when you have left your lights on? I have run the battery flat twice now because of the leaving the main lights on....once in traffic jam on dual carriageway at an rtc & just a few days ok, when I left her parked up. The first time was dangerous. The second time was frustrating as I hadn't learnt my lesson & it b#@gered up the sliding door which has had to be reset by my local garage. I asked them to check if there was an alarm already fitted as previous threads have mentioned that some owners disconnect the wires but it appears that mine (a 1996 Ford Freda) doesn't have an alarm or warning system of any kind. So I have looked on eBay etc & there are lots to choose from but I am not sure if all are suitable for the bongo. Any recommendations please?

I may be wrong, but ours has one as standard? I believe there is a blue buzzer box behind the panel to the side of accelerator pedal.
I'm sure someone will put us straight soon enough.

O yes they have a factory fitted buzzer
For every thing
Lights
Key in ignition
Roof
Reverse
Sure it would be on all models
Loads of people cut the wire
To stop the annoying buzz
Yes think it's the box mentioned
You want to speak to the bloke that does the wiring diagrams on here

Re: anyone recommend a lights on warning buzzer?
garage have looked and say that there isn't any wires for a buzzer as far as they can see. I already looked in the box which is on the right of the steering column & couldn't see any disconnected wires. could it be possible that it's been removed completely?? & if so, I really need to buy one that can be fitted. I have seen all types but not sure which one is best. I haven't had her back from garage yet as they only reset the door today but I will look down by the accelerator in case I am looking in wrong place. If there are any loose looking wires, do I just strip off some of the plastic casing & twist the wire back together or is that dangerous? Also which one relates to the lights-on buzzer? Sorry, lots of questions but I am really worried as haven't had bill for sorting door yet & can't keep making the mistake of leaving lights on as not good for the battery or my purse!!

Here you go Pud.

PS I assume that you know that the "light left on warning" only operates when the lights are left on and door is opened.
Good Luck.

Thanks for that Rita. I have just looked & the wires attached to the white casing are there but the blue box has been completely removed.....there is nothing for me to reconnect the wires to.
So, I am back to square one unfortunately & I need to buy an alarm.
Any suggestions please as I am not sure if they will all suit the bongo......many thanks.....

Give George at Bongo Spares a call he will almost certainly have a module available, so provided the plug hasn't been chopped off you can just plug it in.

Re: anyone recommend a lights on warning buzzer?
Thanks Bob & Geoff. I have just spoken to George & I need to call him back on Monday when hopefully he will be able to send me a blue box & , fingers crossed, that will sort it! I'm a bit dim when it comes to motor electrics etc but George very kindly tried to explain it to me....so, as I understand it, the white plug, into which the wires lead, plug into the blue box which is the audible alarm bit.....is that right? The blue box doesn't need to be plugged into anything....that just sits back into the silver metal casing?

Yup, the blue module is just a Beep generator, with a little speaker in it. Power and the various items that want to generate a beep have wires connected to the White socket and the module just plugs in and is screwed to the chassis. If you don't want all the beeps that are generated then some are easy to disable like the Key in Ignition, but the Headlights left on and Reversing beeps won't be affected.

Brilliant. Thanks everyone. Hopefully the blue box will be the end of it! X
