Yes it's just like being hooked up on site for a week or 2
It should go to trickle charge once batt full
Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.

At this stage checking the battery voltage with a multi-meter would be a good plan to see if it is low on volts. This thread has links to useful pages regarding voltages and testing a battery:

I'll fully charge the wife, and then volt read her.

Will know by the volts the battery condition after.
