Digital silent generators

Post by Clive and Sarah » Mon Jan 22, 2007 12:37 pm

Can't find much chat about these apart from negatives. How 'silent' are they. Would not use one on a campsite prefering hook up but away at lots of sailing events in car parks/wherever so no hook up. Could live on 12v but would like 240v at times.

Anyone got one and prepared to say something positive.

B&Q currently have some offers on cheap generators. I've just bought one for £33. Only 780W output but I don't intend using it for camping. This is 2 stroke and quiet compared to the dearer 4 stroke ones but at 91db it is still too loud to run on a campsite - well I think so anyway.

they get quieter as they get run in, we use the 110 v version for work and once run in it pirs away quite happily.

i use a 230v one in the garage and have used a piece of heat resistant rubber hose from the exhaust pipe and then into a moped silencer and it runs fine and as very quite. longer the hose quieter it is.

Oh that's a good idea, I'll look into that - Thanks
