Knocking
I've had a knocking on slightly uneven surfaces, at the nearside front, for a few weeks so decided to replace the drop links, which are a couple of years old and the roll bar bushes and brackets. Knocking is still there. What else could it be and how do I test for whatever it may be?
Re: Knocking
I'll be interested to see the replies to this, as I have the knocking but not tried anything yet!

34-310 and z on this drawing

the ball joint wears and knocks. look for a split rubber around the joint.
this shows the principle of changing them but it isnt on a bongo.

this is the bongo one, and the lower wishbone that holds it.

Re: Knocking
Hi
I've done the ball-joint route...err...a few times, but the only way is the whole wishbone...The roads here are unbelievable, so I always go for the wishbone, as it comes complete with bushes and balljoint...I've done 3 in 2 years...and 4 rear swinging arms on the Jeep!...PLUS a Top wishbone and 2 sets of ball-joints on the Jeep
Oh...Two top mounts , and 4 dampers on the Bongo, and a couple of sets of droplinks!...and 2 steering racks...
Happy motoring!
Cheers
Helen

In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.
Re: Knocking
Wow those pot holes, really are a problem Helen. The other half keeps complaining as we have one on the drive, about 1 foot round and an inch deep - absolutely gargantuan over here!

Re: Knocking
On top of my other problems my 2 bottom ball joints are gone too, they'll have to wait a bit though.
