Another noise

Post by al & chris » Wed Mar 11, 2015 10:46 pm

Our engine suddenly started to sound different, louder particularly accelerating up hills. Thought at first exhaust manifold as noise sounded as though it was coming from engine bay somewhere. The noise is now not as loud and then started thinking it was bearing noise or alternator noise. It does increase with engine revs an can hear most at around 2200rpm after that engine too loud to hear it properly.
Listening with seat up it seems to be coming from front of egrs . Could there have been a blockage that has now partially cleared. Not sure where to start. Any ideas?

use a listening rod to help locate the noise, something like a long metal screw driver with a wooden handle, put the blade on to various bits of engine/alternator etc with the wooden handle to your ear. (mind you dont catch yer mullet in the belts though.) [-X

22oo is when the turbo starts to wind up, maybe related.

Would have to use a very short screwdriver for anything to get caught :D :D
Noise does seem to be definitely coming from egrs side of engine towards the front.
