NEW REAR SHOCKS

I was thinking of having a tow bar fitted now I have had the LPG conversion done. also thought it a good idea renew the shocks front and rear (beefing up the rear with spring booster if poss) The new gas tank underneath is extra weight and the fact I may be towing a boat/caravan.

Problem is I cannot find what I need in the members shop i.e. shocks and spring boosters, or fleabay???

any ideas please guys and gals ?

mazda can order the harder to get stuff, or second hand should be ok if the od ones are just damaged.

One of my rear shocks was leaking so I bought these for £110 which includes a set of filters: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAZDA-BONGO-1 ... 58bfcaadd5

These are the spring assistors to use: http://air-lift.co.uk/product.php?unique_id=341

You'll need a pair of spring compressors to get the springs out and then spread the coils to slide the bags in. I've got LPG, a rear conversion and sometimes fit a Thule Backup box on the towbar and they help give it a bit of a boost.



Ideally you'd have towbar fitted before the LPG tank otherwise it may now have to be moved / removed and refitted to squeeze the towbar in.

Thanks for this good information, just what I was looking for as I knew someone must have done this before somewhere.

I will give these a looking at. looking on the bongo shop it will cost almost £400 just for the 4 shocks. God knows what springs would cost?

The guys who did the LPG conversion are doing the tow bar so no worries there then! I have spring clamps/spreaders/ramps/axle stands etc from my old Landover days.

Is should not be a difficult job just time consuming and fiddley I expect. Blood, skin and knuckles I call it!

As for the door rubbers I will ask Mazda as I never thought of that strangely enough, probably because they charge so much.

There is another supplier of the same make kit and they did used to list them on eBay. Probably will ping up with a bit of Googling.

What a clean and smart Bongo Simon. A credit to you sir.

I'm not sure what they're called but I'm after the piece behind the brake disc. I guess its a protective plate for the disc and pads. I need them for both front and back.

Any idea where I can source these?

That's where I got mine. They are very helpful, but make sure you get the right kit. There's one for lowered Bongos, and one for standard

Why is it so difficult to get what you want these days? You can have any old crap you don't want in a jiffy but try getting something you need in a hurry in nigh impossible.

Perhaps when I am retired fully and not ploughing through farms to build wind turbines, I can turn my hand to keeping Bongy pristine
