Useful tip there. What were the symptoms that made you change the relay. Mine has just had 4 New NGK glow plugs but is still a little lumpy at times esp starting from cold in cold/damp weather. Could my relay be contributing?vanvliet wrote:Fitted one of these and it seems to work perfectly £14 (or a little less).Free postage

test lamp on bus bar should show how relay is performing

not got one of those and not sure how I'd use it. I'm guessing dodgy relay does not explain my symptoms but....wonkanoby wrote:test lamp on bus bar should show how reay is performing

Just wire a small 12volt bulb between chassis and the bar, that will be a quick check that power is getting to the bar at least. If not the check the fusible link first before suspecting relay.

Re: Glow plug relay - cheap replacement ( genuine part)
I had a starting problem and was just working my way through the possible causes without a real clue what I was doing! Somebody told me that my problem could be in part down to a faulty relay but it was actually just the plugs. Anyway, I now have a spare one which at that the money I paid (I think it was £11 including post I offered which was accepted) is fine.It took 10 mins to swap over. The price of these things from Mazda dealers is ridiculous.
Ady checked the new one and it functions just as it should.
