Getting HOT underneath hand brake ?

Temp gauge ok and water level fine.

Maybe wise to check the insulation on the engine cover is OK ..

BUT ... as the handbrake lever is situated above the rear of the engine the metal will warm up .. that's also where the scavenger fan switch is located .. if it was to hot the fan would (should) automatically turn on ..

check the exhaust manifold isnt leaking.

It does get warm (for obvious reasons) but unless it has changed from what you are used to then I would not be unduly concerned.
