To be fare they have mixed reviews but for a fridge not to have the basic warning labels and instructions concerns me
Have you looked at the Dometic DS200? Its 65w, compact totally silent and I know some one who sells them cheap

That link is to a 3 way fridge, not a compressor one.winchman wrote:http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/dis ... cID=125169

But the comment re poor labelling shows a potential quality issue?francophile1947 wrote:That link is to a 3 way fridge, not a compressor one.winchman wrote:http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/dis ... cID=125169

Re: EZetil compressor fridges
couldn't find too many reviews
the review quoted using propane in a tent.
Ive used a Camping Gaz 3 way fridge (the ezetil/royal rediculously simular) for 19 years and soon noticed that there is a flame near the bottom and if not on a solid flat surface a ground sheet will soon contact the bottom surface.
for many years I've read about the dangers of naked flames (and more recently dead barbeques) in a tent (we used to use gas lanterns).
I've found 2 brochures concerning EZetil products, one origin germany one from a cz cech site. 4 versions of the 3 way fridge included for various markets :general, Dutch, French, and UK. Only the French one is specified for dual Butane / propane use.
Now propane burns a lot hotter than Butane, no wonder he charrred/ burned his tent.
Thanks to Winchman for his searching.
But this is a classic dont believe what you read without a good pinch of salt/ research.
This fridge uses the same compressor as the waeco but not much other info available
as an aside I found the Australians don't like the waeco

Re: EZetil compressor fridges
I took a quick look at that thread. You only get carbon monoxide poisoning in one way - when a gas flame does not get enough clean air to completely burn - i.e. lack of ventilation. No gas appliance can "make" carbon monoxide by design. Only if it is not ventilated properly.
As traumatic as the event was for them, they put a gas appliance in an area not well ventilated. There is no other way to make carbon monoxide with a gas appliance. He thought it was ventilated, but was wrong.
He even tries to justify his actions by quoting that whilst the instructions say not to use the fridge (on gas) in cars, mobile homes or caravans, it does not spell out that you must not use it in a tent (another sealed environment) - so he did! Must safetey instructions literally list every single sealed environment for the stupid? i.e. wendy house, garden shed, coach, plane. - you get the idea lol.
That kind of posting makes me appreciate why we don't allow people to slag-off brands on here. One misguided person has a bad time and then it's "burn them all!"

Re: EZetil compressor fridges
to close
I have bought an Eztil ezt35 compressor fridge.
34l useable 36l stated volume (2x2 l bottles poss)
12v (onboard 240v transformer, so mains as well)
cool to -18C only used at +2 so far (ie fridge)
quick and quiet.
so far impressed.
one problem that is not fridge related is i screwed the lb with using a cool box overnight.
not enough volts to keep the solar charger up, so startup charge from car no problem.
Thought i'd rewired to load on solar charger but still killed battery.
rewire it properly (what am i doing wrong, cant see amps drawn on load, same charger has dodgey used to use) and get a new battery.
alternative 12V timer and relay?

What size solar panel, and you would need to give us the exact wiring info to comment on that aspect, however the Solar controller should be indicating what is going on regarding charging - do you have the external add-on meter?

Hi
Dodgey..
You got it...hole in one!
How can you protect against idiots buying an appliance , misusing it through absolute stupidity and blaming the manufacturer!...
Over the years I've dealt with the public, and dare I say, that there are 2 types...those who are born the usual way, and others that must be "hatchlings"...and the problem is that everyone has been given the vote, regardless....and THERE'S AN ELECTION COMING.....Scary!
Cheers
Helen

Re: EZetil compressor fridges
That all sounds fine, and the compressor fridge uses the same compressor as ours and that's been running all 24/7 since last summer all winter, so you should be OK.

Re: EZetil compressor fridges
Later on load was showing .2A
battery probably fried
will substitute for older one from my folding camper
better stick it on charge again (yippie still 12.9v before charging , on on and off trickle charge all winter, alternating with sons bike battery)
thanks
