front washers (not working)

Post by Bongo Sully » Mon Jan 12, 2015 12:42 pm

Hi all,

purchased a replacement (front) washer motor from Ebay. Local garage fitted it (apologies not that technical).

However, they didn't charge me for fitting it - said the motor was fine. Therefore assuming it is likely to be a wiring problem (can't be fuse, cos wipers still work fine).

Any tips/hints pointing me in the right direction - much appreciated :)

Did they definitely do the right one :) only I thought I'd done the front and it was the rear electric I chased for ages

Good test is to use a meter on the terminals or a simple test light and see if you are actually getting power there.
If not then try connecting it to a known earth on the chassis somewhere - if you get a result then you know its a dodgy earth and that'll be on the earth post behind the passenger side headlight.

Try cleaning the terminals they get a hammering right at the front.

Mine drove me mad until I replaced the pump, cleaned terminals and sorted the earth post.
Oh and worked on the right pump!

My front was rusted up inside. Cured it by soaking overnight in coca cola
