Wrong fuel filter

Post by TheStinkyHippy » Sun Jan 11, 2015 5:34 pm

So I ordered from eurocarparts a new fuel filter, based on my car reg.

They sent me a Crosland F30303

I spent all weekend trying to get the old filter out, eventually having to remove the assembly, put it in vice and yank until my arms hurt.. it was well and truly stuck on.. eventually managed to separate it..

Only to find the filter is different to the new one. The old filter is a F30316.

I can't find any references to F30316 Crosland on the internet.

So, my question is, do I have a different filter to standard?

I have a 2.5 diesel 1995/6 model.

So this is what I have:

The gold filter is the old filter I removed. The Cable and screw float fits into the bottom of it.
The green is the new one, obviously I can't screw the cable thing into that.

It's possible someone has changed the filter head at some time - that's all.

Mine isn't what the computer says it should be either.

However mine looks the same as yours and I've never seen one like the Green one.

I was given the same one first time I did filter change
Hole to big
They changed it no probs had to phone supplier for right number
Will try to dig number out later for you
You could use the wrong one but with new drain point in hole and just not connect your cable sensor
Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.

This one looks like mine. Certainly not like the green one.

or this

But I would take the one taken off in to a good local motor factor and ask them to match it.

The filter that they sent you is the wrong one (these things happen)Email them at let them know.

The Crosland fuel filter for your vehicle is ...F30316 it is the gold coloured one. They will probably send you a new filter and tell you to keep the wrong one.

Other ECP ref is 503 69 0188

I had the same thing but with air filter got a filter kit off ebay and the air filter was ill fitting big seal hole etc. and made the casing hard to shut not good so bought another correct one. Good luck sorting it. Very annoying when something does not fit.

Always worth comparing the replacement parts with the original before stripping everything down (where practical).

I've had a few incorrect bits from ECP before as well as their sister company CarPartsForLess. With the latter I had to send the wrong parts back before they would despatch correct items. These were supposed to be two identical springs. Right number on the box, wrong part inside #-o
