Rear ac adaptor light staying on

Post by Bongo man » Sun Dec 14, 2014 8:42 pm

Hi, I have had by Bongo since February. I changed the fuse that operates the central locking. Since then my battery has been draining after a day. I noticed tonight that the led in the rear ac adapter stays on when key is out of the ignition. Meaning this is maybe what is draining my batteries. I have taken the fuse out for central locking and light has gone off. Any ideas why this is happening?

Welcome to the forum :). Have you got an AC inverter as seen in the second photo down? If so, you should disconnect it as it can drain the battery and unless you have 110V appliances it is of little use in the UK.

I have one of these factory-fitted 110v inverters, and my leisure battery suffered the same demise when I flipped all the internal electrics over to it. It does draw quite a lot of power even when nothing is plugged into it.

My solution was to add an on/off switch beside the panel rather than permanently disconnect it.

Most chargers etc. now will accept an input of 100-250v AC and I use it to charge my camera batteries when on the road. So it's quite useful to have.

That is a great help Simon and Bongo Joe! I will probably disconnect it seeing that my 4 year old twins love switches.
Thanks again!

Ah yes, small fingers and mains sockets are potentially a messy combination.
