Oh yeah, them Fiat 500s, they don't make them like they used to, note the robust door handles

Damn right Paul. :(
£40 for a new handle, could have bought a complete old style 500 for that years ago. :)

Good day out, forgot to get a cake, sorry Ste, save me one for next time.

In the 1970s a saddle maker mate had a clockwork mouse (Fiat 500) ..

Phil .. who was around 18 stone .. his school teacher wife not much less .. there 'chunky' daughter .. camping gear / luggage went to Greece in there 500 for a Months holiday ..

Struggled to get there as the engine started to get a bit sluggish and lacked pull ..

On the camp site Phil stripped the engine to find the rings where knackered ..

With there lack of funds and any cheap Fiat spares .. he removed the rings .. wound some four cord (a heavy waxed hand stitching saddle makers thread) around the ring grooves .. replaced the rings .. forced the bore over the piston .. and drove back to England without any problems ..!!

Neil you fibber.....I am sure that I saw you around the toilets waiting for Dabs to leave in case he would mention Rugby.... .....

Joking aside...I am really sorry we missed you my original Day meet Buddy...( Walter on the Wirral   ).

We left when we did because the Southern softies with me were feeling the cold and were sat in the car to keep warm..

There goes the next Tough Northerners meet.... :(

It was great to meet up with genuine good old mates....and I hope to meet up with everyone again soon =D>

Many thanks to Ste for sorting this....It was Blobbers fault.. ...Thanks Alan
