Windscreen tint advice

Post by mantaJim » Sun Nov 16, 2014 12:03 pm

Hi all

I've got a 6 inch crack in my windscreen right in my field of view from a middle lane Hogg on the M6 yesterday :( Autoglass are asking if it is bronze, blue tint or plain. My drivers and passenger window are blue (green ?) tint but i think the windscreen appears to be plain.

Can anyone offer any advice - the manufacturers "etching" on the passenger side says ... "LAMIPANE GGN DOT 23 NIPPON SAFETY AS1 NSG M411". A quick google hasn't turned anything up.

I wondered if the GGN might suggest green (blue ?).

Cheers

A piece of white paper held behind the glass should help confirm the various tints. On my previous Bongo I replaced the windscreen and was able to upgrade to a graduated blue / green tint at the top which was much better than plain.

Thanks Simon - that windscreen looks ace. I tried a yellow sweet wrapper behind the side windows and they looked a little green hence reasoning these are blue - there was no noticable change to the colour of the wrapper when held behind the windscreen hence my assumption it's plain. I quite fancy a blue tint to match the sides though.

Cheers

That thought occurred to me too winchman - though in my case it would have happened in Japan as I am the first UK keeper of my van. I've just had another look and think its blue.
