Coolant hoses are jubilee clip suitable

Hi all,

I have been fighting with a dripping hose at the bottom of the rad for a while now , changed the hose but seem to get the same leak but not as severe (for a while ).

Question is

Are jubilee clips suitable for these hoses ( original clips long gone ). If not what do you use?

Or anything that can used be on the tube to help for a better seal.

Go to a Mazda dealer and ask for part number 9WNC-B3-700B. They are the Mazda originals and not jubilee clips.

Much as I love constant pressure clips, on my recent visit to Adrian at Japandirect to get work done, he had to resort to a jubilee clip to stem a drip on mine in exactly the same place. Oh the shame of it!

If you've got a problematic joint apply some gasket compound such as Blue Hylomar: http://hylomar.com/hylomar-product-rang ... compounds/

It's non setting so forms a reliable seal and the pipe can easily be removed without any damage. I've used Jubilee / worm drive clips on many different cars without any problems, but where there is a plastic connection such as the radiator, you're better off applying sealant rather than tightening the clamp so much that it damages the plastic.

As a thought, it's not the plastic drain plug that's leaking is it?

Hi thanks for the replies it is the metal tube on the bottom thinking it may be damaged ? I read that jubilee clips aren't suitable as the don't seal in a perfect circle ?? Going try the type with the bolt to see if they work better ?

I think you have to try it and see. It's done job on mine. Simon's sealant suggestion ought surely to settle it, though that would probably mean draining and dismantling, which is tedious.

" Jubilee Clips" don't leak, the hose and or the connecting pipe do, and sometimes need replaced/repaired/cleaned.

Get the right size jubilee clip for the job and they are better than constant pressure clips

Is to eliminate human error
( a clip not done up enough or to much )

It's plastic, hence my comments about using sealant & not over-tightening

if you tighten a jubilee clip up tight it can crack the plastic stub.
i know its a bummer to check but it may have done this already.

Its possible that the vehicle could be fitted with a radiator of all metal construction .

It is possible although it would probably have to be a custom made one. Mazda rads have plastic end caps and the generic ones widely available use the same construction.

The constant pressure clips I am on about are the NORMA type...they do work very well
