Auto gear box oil change - Extra BOLT!?!

Post by TheStinkyHippy » Sat Oct 04, 2014 12:03 pm

I'm having a WTF moment!

Changing the auto gear box oil..
Unbolted the sump.. saved all the bolts
Unbolted the filter.. saved the 4 boths

cleaned up.. found in the bottom of the sump a bolt... thought, opps must have dropped that.

But, the sump had 18 short bolts
the filter had 4 long bolts..

there is one medium bolt..

The bolt with the orange square is extra!

Have I lost my mind?

Looking underneath I cannot see any place it would go..

Please help!

Looks like it could be a Solenoid bolt/set screw, check the length and compare here.

I couldn't find any place for the extra bolt to go.

Put everything back together. It all seems to run fine.

Perhaps it was dropped in the factory or something as it was stuck to the magnet.
