Tyre pressure

Post by Exmoorgal » Wed Sep 10, 2014 11:39 am

Hi all.
I bought my first Bongo a couple of weeks ago. I love it, and the younger members of the family say it "looks really cool". However, it has no manuals or information and the sellers said they had never known what the tyre pressure should be . They relied on a deflation/reflation at the MOT and hadn't used it much in the two years they had owned it since conversion.
The van is a 2003 Petrol 2litre, with camper kit at the rear. The tyres are 225/50R17 - Sneaker Bridgestone, with what I take to be a 2009 date on. They look perfectly ok.
I have trawled the Fury information and am thoroughly confused about tyre pressure. I've also had the "if I were you, I wouldn't start from here" conversation with the local garage.
Can anyone advise me please? Should the pressure be 36 front, 38 rear?

Welcome aboard. :D

The Fact Sheet in the Member's area suggests 36/38 is correct with a conversion.

Out of interest does it say anywhere in the handbook what the pressures should be?

The pressure according to the plate inside the door is 26 for front and 34 for the rear on standard wheels and tyres. That feels a bit low and the tyre compounds used in Japan are typically slightly softer than over here, so I would go for 36/38 as previously recommended especially with the addition of the conversion.
