Indicators

Our indicators are clicking fast when signalling right. We've checked the bulbs, and they are fine. The light on the dash doesn't flash right either, although it makes the faster clicking sound. Left is all working fine.

Any ideas what the problem is?

Ok - googling, seems to suggest the relay unit. Where might we find this on a 1995 2.5 diesel Bongo?

There are a few relays under the bonnet on the side walls
Think you would want one on the passenger side

Its the unit F1-01 on the diagram below under the dash righthand side I think;

Presumably, failure of the dashboard light will have a similar effect on the circuit as falure of, say, a side repeater bulb and make the circuit speed up.

May not be the relay at all.

Frank, I nearly wrote the same reply earlier i.e. instrument panel bulb blown will change the resistance of the circuit and hence the speed of flash. Then re-read it and noted that the bulb was working but also flashing fast (as it would do). My money would be on a dodgy earth or a bulb on its way out. Problem with a relay could easily be identified by swapping right with left and seeing if fault moves or stays on same side.

Poor earth or other connection will raise the resistance. Are the bulbs flashing as brightly as they should? Classic sign is weak rapid flashing.

Hi all ...... have an indicator prob. Passenger side both front & rear not working. Bulbs replaced and fuse checked. There is a fast 'tick' and no light on the dashboard???

Any ideas any of you Bongo geniuses?

Hurrah! Very nice and down to earth RAC chap done a temporary fix on an iffy relay. Anyone know the best place to get a replacement relay for my 1990 Bongo??

Ummm ... be interesting what the RAC man did to do a temporary fix ..??

The one flasher unit (relay) works both the left and right flashers .. if one side is OK .. but the other side is not .. to me .. that suggests a duff connection / bulb rather than the relay itself ..

Well done the RAC man for the temp fix ...very unusual for them to do this type of breakdown.
