Air con only works on extreme temps

Post by BongoGog » Fri Aug 08, 2014 11:06 pm

I've read the fact sheets and forum topics but haven't seen anyone else have a similar problem.

My air con works fine on extreme cold and hot - with differing fan speeds, but other temp settings just blows in outside air temp, but different fan speeds work.

Any ideas how to sort it. I haven't cleaned any of the parts yet - it may well be just that, but sounds unlikely?

why work the air con on a "hot" setting -- the expectation of air con is that it will provide chilled air - can't see any reason at all to move the temperature adjuster lever for any gain by going to anything but fully left = cold -- it isn't meant to be part of the air mixing across the temperatures- that may be the reason no other replies are here as the question/problem isn't a problem - defeats the purpose if you see what I mean

Just to clarify, do mean the air con or just the blower in general? Have you got the manual or digital climate control panel?

I find with the digital controls, I tend to have to use settings at the extremes of the temperature range to get any significant change as the values from low to mid 20's all seem to result is the same sort of heating effect.

Sorry for poor description. I have the digital type control. and yes I meant the climate control system - only cold on coldest setting (can't leave on for long as too cold so regularly switching on and off) and only real warmth when on max heat. This system works, it's just a bit of a pain with intermittent switching.

So same for you Simon?

Yes, similar in as much as 18C can be too cold while 19C might be a bit too warm so the control is not as smooth as I'd like. Reminds me: still got a repair to do on my A/C pipework which I'd best get on with before next planned trip away.

I leave my A/C permantley on .. winter and summer .. I always thought it conditioned / de humified the air regardless of the season ..??

Likewise, we like cool, dry air!

there is a temp sensor in the cab this may need cleaning or replacing.

if its not working the climate control won't and so will only work on maximum

Sorry I cant remember exactly where but some one will
