Check the load rating and ask your insurance company whether it will increase the premium. Also factor in that getting 18" tyres of the correct load rating (min 96) is not easy or cheap.

You will need to replace the tyres for 235/45/18 to get over the 96 load rating.... most 235's are 98's
235's will mean that the speedo will read 30.4 at 30 mph & 60.7 at 60 mph....

Many Bongo owners with 18's fit Nankang 235/45R18 98W XL AS-1

225's are either 91 or 95 load rating so not suitable for the Bongo...and your insurance company will have an easy get out if you ever needed to claim...

I have 18" RX-8 wheels with 225/55 tyres......transforms the handling of the Bongo.

Also helped when we were flooded a while ago with the wading aspect.

Only thing is front tyres wear fairly quickly.....

What wheel nuts would you use to put the rx8 alloys on the bongo...?
I can't think of anything better than a trip mountain running in the Bongo!

Better to rotate then at 3 month intervals to even out the wear.

I too have RX8 ALLOYS with 235/50 R18 budget tyres Achilles Desert Hawk H/T101V 149MPH 825KG's rated. No wheel arch fouling. My speedo reads under compared to sat nav e.g. 48mph on speedo actual speed 50mph, so no problems there. Wheel nuts have had to be done up tight to torque 147N.m (108 ft-lb) and wheel balancing and tyre pressure has proven critical to eliminate all steering judder.
I noticed a slightly harsher ride and reduced acceleration, possibly better fuel economy. No I would not go back to the standard wheels, the RX8 alloys transformed the look of the van, next time I will be going for the higher 235/55 tyres and will trim the front wheel arch.

That is illegal/not technically roadworthy (or however the rules may be enforced/interpreted). The speedo can read over by up to 10% but can never read under.

Sorry wrong way round, I will be doing a dead 50 on the speedo through road works or speed restrictions on the motorway and I will be under the sat nav speed by at least 3mph. I need to do over 50 on the speedo to be actually at 50mph.

And the spare? Elsewhere I've seen somebody suggest a wheel off a Mazda 6 - does that mean they fit as well?
If 4wd rolling circumference needs to be the same as well as fitting.

Hi Donald, why were you asking in the first place? The wheels on your van were really nice when I saw it.
