MOT fail help please

Post by mellon man » Sat Jul 12, 2014 12:40 pm

Hi

Bongo just failed MOT all because of new regulations 0n dust covers got 10 days to sort out!

Nearside front suspension ball joint dust cover missing
Both track rod end ball joint dust covers missing
Offside front suspension arm ball joint dust cover badly damaged needs replacing

Are these covers easy to source?
Are they separate or do I need to get complete ball joints etc.?
Are they easy to fit

Thanks in anticipation

Thanks rita for info
So it the seems the dust rubbers can be fitted separate to ball joint,- not like the ones I was shown in the garage that were some Japanese joints where the rubber was sealed into the ball joint so you have to replace the whole lot

The MOT garage said they had some separate rubbers that would fit
So guess next step is to get a price on fitting 4 new dust covers.

Or do any of you think I should DIY this job :?:

That is one reason I always take mine for mot the first date possible for renewal, gives so much more time to sort stuff out, never leave it till last minute...unless you forget lol.
