AIR-CON BLOWER-FAN
Anyone replaced one of these on a 2002 V6, if so what with. Mine has been fully serviced but just does not seem to have the puff? Makes all the right noises and temp is ice cool but cirulation is crap, There's no pollen filters blocked or any filters for that matter so I guess someone must of been trying tto improve it before me?
I have a mazda 2 as a run around (dog mobile) 2004 the aircon fan in that blows your socks off so I was thinking of making a swap or trying a Bongo replacement-refurb if available. Surely someone must have had a go at this? Any ideas or tips would be cool, no pun intended
Thx

Re: AIR-CON BLOWER-FAN
Hi
Apparently a 1989 Nissan Sunny heater motor fits....I can't tell you whether it has more punch than a standard Bongo fan, which, as you say is feeble, or whether the twists and turns of the front ducting is the problem?....as an aside, the Jeep I have needs you to be buckled in when you turn the heater on, or you'll end up in the back seat!....
Cheers

Re: AIR-CON BLOWER-FAN
I find mine fine since I cleaned out the heater matrix and removed the mildewed old material that once covered it. Have you thoroughly checked the system for clogging?
Re: AIR-CON BLOWER-FAN
look under dash to be sure all flaps are connected to the wheel as mine blows just fine
Re: AIR-CON BLOWER-FAN
It would also be worthwhile checking the fan, it should have a concave leading edge (clockwise rotation).
Its been known for the wrong fan/motor being fitted.
PS is the problem there when you are on normal heater function?
Another PS...some of these vehicles have a Filter in the Scoop.

Stripped all the scoop ans ducting to have a look, can see the fan but no obstructions. It is also the same when on heat...poor blow.

Maybe I need to fit a jeep one then?

I would not know if it was the wrong one or not as I have never seem one. I will have to get stuck in sometime soon and get to the bottom of this starting with as suggested that all the connections are made and have air tight connections. Next up will be the fan and fan motor.

Re: AIR-CON BLOWER-FAN
How accessible is everything to get at. I know you have to strip a few things out of the way under the bonnet to get down the the fan. Also the lever at the front? which way should it be ''forward or back' as I have moved it back and forth that many times now I have forgotten which way it should be
Also is there a schematic available for this job available?

Re: AIR-CON BLOWER-FAN
Hi ELZE
You may think Mazda parts are pricey, but Jeep bits are way too dear...
I don't think Jeep blowers are any better than others...I had an Opel for a while...that was good...Fords always seemed to have good heaters...
In comparison to others, the Bongo takes a while in the heat to get the A/C cooling down quickly - most likely due to the trunking getting warm (It was 38 C. here t'other day)...In the morning, it takes the Jeep a few seconds to run cold, but the Bongo takes a minute or so. My system is all cleaned regularly, runs cold, was re-gassed last year, and there are no blockages.
Regarding whether it's an easy job to get at the motor...about 15 minutes to do the lot, once you've done it once or twice...I usually blast the matrix through with an air-line annually, and I have no filter.
Good luck! Oh, if you go to a domestic air-conditioner supplier, they'll sell you an aerosol or hand spray with bactericide to spray on the matrix...it stops the pong and cleans it up a bit
Cheers

I have had it fully serviced and cleaned last week after the first guy who came to gas it di a crap job. It not smelly and its nice and cold. I am only dissapointed at the poor circulation. I am sure it should be putting out more breeze than it is so I am determined to investigate this. As I said I have stripped it up to the fan which is a doddle. But getting the fan out it something I have not done...yet! It might just need refurbishing and I know a company who does this.
It cannot be rocket science all you need is chilled air blown out at a reasonable rate and presto! But for some reason I do not have that

Re: AIR-CON BLOWER-FAN
Hi Elze
If you have a "pet" company, when you get the heater fan out, and blow out the matrix, see if you can get the motor re-wound to run higher speeds...that'll do the trick!...then when you re-assemble, make sure that there aren't air-leaks where the components are joined....Jaylee added sponge gaskets everywhere, so the air blown by the fan wasn't lost through all the cracks, and it apparently made a difference! I'll be out in the "mid-day sun" today, and I'll compare the Bongo system with the Jeep later!
Cheers

Re: AIR-CON BLOWER-FAN
This might obvious but, is the fan actually working on the High Setting, they have been known for the resistor pack to go wonky.

Re: AIR-CON BLOWER-FAN
Hi
Further to my last post...
Started the Jeep this morning, A/c cold straight away when the A/C compressor kicked in (second or two delay)...Backed the Bongo out , and again, equally cold as soon as started!...The difference????...fan is nowhere near as efficient, and yes, all positions work (all speeds)...PLUS, I clean the matrix annually. So...I reckon it needs a motor with more puff!
Cheers
