I have a 2001 2.0l petrol bongo. The abs light has come on recently and it's due for its MOT next week!
I've read the fault codes by jumping the gnd and tbs terminals of the socket behind the glove box. Initially the and light flashed 12, 14 and 44. It removed the leisure battery and tray, disconnected the n/s front abs sensor and checked it with a meter. 1592 was the reading. Put it together again, read the fault codes and now only getting 14 and 44.
The Bongo is jacked up and wheels on chocks so I can get to the n/s rear sensor to see if a clean up will fix that, but can't find any info anywhere about what the 44 code (4 long 4 short) means. Any ideas on this would be gratefully received!

I've got the n/s rear sensor off and tested for continuity and it's reading 1. Dead.
I guess buying a new n/s rear sensor will sort the 14 error code but what about the 44?

Re: ABS Error Codes 12, 14 and 44
Initialy I found 'some one' had removed the ABS bulb .. then after various tests by my 'lecky' son he found that the pump was not pumping .. turned out to be a bad connection at the multipin plug at the nearside (by the leisure battery)..

Re: ABS Error Codes 12, 14 and 44
Thanks for your reply. It's not as easy as that on mine unfortunately. That plug is plugged in all the way.
I have been looking online at what the 44 code might be. On an Mx5 it is a different type of fault but on the same wheel:
http://www.mazdamenders.net/forum/viewt ... =17&t=3469 - "44 - Left Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Rotor Short to ground or Disagreement with other sensors is detected".
I don't know if this is the same on a Bongo, but seems possible as it's a Mazda and it's suggesting the same wheel as the code 14 (rear n/s), so not totally unrelated.
I couldn't see any damage to the wiring on the sensor cable which would cause a short, but not sure where the cable runs from after it joins the sensor plug cable and runs under the van somewhere. I have no idea how to check whether the sensors disagree with each other or how to reset the warning light (or indeed whether it has to be reset at all or whether it's self clearing on rectification of the fault).

Re: ABS Error Codes 12, 14 and 44
I got a used pair of rear sensors for £60 on ebay, fitted the rear n/s one and the 14 and 44 errors both disappeared and the bongo has now sailed through the mot first time. I didn't have to reset the fault codes. They cleared on their own after fitting the replacement sensor.
The sensor came out surprisingly easily with the help of a hammer and an old screwdriver.
Hope this helps someone else in the future.
