Hi
I am thinking of having a go at replacing my rear discs and pads ..... I have taken the wheel off and also removed the calliper but how is the disc removed? Is there anything else that needs removing before I try and take the disc off or is it a case of tapping the disc to loosen it. My van is a 96 2.5 2 wheel drive ....

pretty sure it just slides off...it'll be stuck to the hub so just needs a tap (there 'may' be a single screw on the face of the disc that needs unscrewing to release it but I don't recall one and can't see it in the service manual so should be free to come off)

It's probably just rust keeping it in place as there are no retaining bolts. Obviously, hand brake should be off & the disk able to rotate freely. If it's binding, you may need to remove the rubber grommet & slacken off the adjuster.

You may need to 'jack it off' ..
Most drum / discs have two .. but strangley the Bongo seems to only have one 'jacking point' ..
Firstly I tend to spray the 'spigot' (the raised bit in between the five bolts) with some penertrating oil .. and have a rubber / copper mallet handy ..
If you look at the face of the drum you should see a a tapped hole .. find a metric bolt that screws in .. as you tighten it in it hits the drive shafts flang and pushes the drum off .. as there is only one bolt you may need to tap the opposite side of the disc to get an 'even' push ..
As drum hand brakes are not self cleaning there will be some brake dust so be carefull of ..not .. to breath it in ..
The handbrake adjuster is (awkwardly) placed at the bottom of the back plate .. I tend to tighten both sides up so they .. just .. rub the drum ..
Replace the wheel with a couple nuts .. spin it around as fast as you can .. and get some one to apply the hand brake .. this 'centralises' the hand brake shoes inside the drum ..
Then try the hand brake again to check that there are not to many clicks before engaging ..
Although you can adjust the hand brake by removing the rubber bung in the face of the drum .. I tend to remove the drum and gradualy adjust / replace the drum / wheel and re ceck ..

Re: Replacing rear disc and pads
Hi
Thanks for all the advice, I have managed to get the disc off there is a 8mm threaded hole for a bolt gently tightened the bolt whilst tapping the other side of the disc. The other problem was I ordered the discs and pads believing there was 2 discs but there was only one .......
