Hello peeps
I bet this has been asked before but Ive had a quick blip at a couple of pages but couldn't find anything. Got in the van to come home from work and neither of the windows will open

There's no noise or clicks when you push either button.
Checked fuse but it looks fine, hubby seemed sure it would be that as both windows stopped at same time.
Suggestions from all you wise bongoers would be appreciated

After that try the psssegers one from that door switch. If it works its likely the loom where it passes from the pillar to the drivers door.

Well after trying what you said peeps, no joy
Got in the van yesterday to go to work and the windows were working!!
Its a bongomystery!!!
So could be dodgy wiring

That would stop both windows working at the same time?

Could be. It's almost certainly the wiring between the door & the body, but not where it passes through the grommets at either of those points, it's normally at the bottom of the sharp V bend in the cable. You'll have to carefully remove some of the corrugated sheath and hopefully the problem will be self-evident - just do a local repair and seal up with tape.

Check out the Black & Red and the Black wires in the drivers door loom, they carry the power into the switches, so for both to fail simultaneously its most likely one of these two, at the point where the "V" is at the bottom. I have just had a break develop myself, but it will have to wait till I get home to sort, its only intermittent on the passenger side at present but will spread for sure as other wires harden and snap.

My Freda is suffering the same fate.. I'll try to follow the tips mentioned here.
Pretty sure it is a cabling thing since they sometimes start to work again...

Thank you peeps
Finally got round to looking at the wiring on the drivers side. Three wires were broken but someone had done a botch job on them so god knows how the windows worked at all
So all fixed now and it turns out we actually have central locking too!!! one of the other wires was for that. Being told it didn't have it we were slightly confused when the passenger was open whenever we pulled up somewhere
Now I wonder what the other wire was for..................

This happened to me (Mirrors, Leccy windows only working intermitantly) and after reading many threads it was evident that the wiring loom in the doors is to blame. Indeed I checked the looms and both were damaged. I spent the afternoon cutting pieces of the loom out and re-soldering new pieces of wire back in and immediately everything started to work perfectly. Now my Electric Mirrors, Windows central locking work fine. I would say anybody who is experiencing problems with electrics in the front of the vehicle (Door lights, Electric windows, Electric Mirrors) should simply put a circuit tester on the wires. I'm confident you will see that the wires are broken. Word of warning one... Make sure you use proper automotive wiring because 'other' wiring is not designed for constant flexing such as when a car door is opening & closing all the time. Word of warning Two...DO NOT try and cheat by using those Blue Scotchlock wiring connectors with door wiring. The constant movement will dislodge the wires. My advice would be...
Go to the Car Spares Shop and buy some Coloured Wiring..
Go Home...
Get out the extension lead...
Get out your Soldering Iron...
Get out your Scissors...
Pull a comfy stool up and situate it at the door pillar...
On the door wiring loom snip away as much visible wire you can see on each wire and SOLDER IN a new piece of wire the same colour...
Insulate your soldering connections well...
Celebrate, have a Beer and tell anyone that will listen that you are now an auto electrician while you display your now working electric Mirrors, windows etc.
I'm certain other people will confirm that the wiring loom in the doors simply snaps like a twig after many years.

My windows work intermittent and today I confirmed it is indeed caused by the wires near the hinge of the door.. If I wiggle them the windows work, otherwise they fail...
sounds like I need to get the soldering iron out indeed..

You could go and support your Bongo Fury friendly shop by purchasing a plug and play wiring loom, and forget it for another 15 years.

Thanks.
About the central locking, mine only works from the drivers door, is that normal or is it another gremlin? Not a big issue since we don't know any better as we bought it like that...
