It's basically a Ford Ranger engine. The bottom end is the same, the head isn't quite the same as for the Bongo it needs extra plumbing for the bleed system but that can be knobbled if necessary.

Air filter definitely looks right. The bigger of the other two looks about right for the oil filter. Don't know about the other if it's supposed to be the fuel filter, not got round to changing mine yet....
Unless it's an optical illusion and those two filters are the same.

Thanks man... yes the bottom one is the in line Diesel filter. Getting a service this week at garage and might as well do the fuel filter at the same time.
Big old oil filters on the Bongo.. but I guess it has 6.5L of oil in it so it needs to be a bit bigger than the average car filter looks.

The bottom one is the fuel filter with the small "O" ring, don't forget to fit it.

Nice one Rita will make mention of that especially !
I would do it all myself if I had time it's a good way to get to know the engine
at a basic level but I have not got much time reallyfor finding out where all the bits are etc.

Also be aware that the filter head may have been changed - if it has like mine has, the listed filter may not fit - it does not fit mine.

WL-T. The Ranger engine (of similar vintage) is basically the same but the ancillaries such as rocker cover, exhaust manifold and crankshaft driven fan are not interchangable. If you want a cheap set of filters, have a look at the advert in Small Ads.BongoBongo123 wrote:Does the engine have a specific name?

Who knows? until you know if the filter head has been changed and if so to what.BongoBongo123 wrote:Hmm that could through a spanner in the works so to speak. I only found out when the fuel filter I was given based on the reg number didn't fit.
I had to take the old filter in to the motor factors and find a match.
Re: 2.5L Diesel in Bongo/Freda?
Scanner, can you post the number on the new filter or the box.?
Re: 2.5L Diesel in Bongo/Freda?
No as it was a couple of years ago and I don't have it any more.teenmal wrote:Scanner, can you post the number on the new filter or the box.?
The last service was done at Allan's and I don't know what filter he used.
Perhaps it may just have been that the factors gave me the wrong filter in the first place. Who knows? They just said the filter head must have been changed, as it didn't match what was in their database.

Hmm.. not sure the air filter is quite right, (you can see the seal is different, anyone come across that variation?) well I thought I would do the air filter myself and it did not look very similar to me.. the new one has a rubber seal further out on the diameter of the round profile than the one I tool out...
It is exactly the right size and shape just the rubbers at the end seem different... very difficult to know if it is meeting correctly with the bottom of filter holder..
Here is my old filter (looked a little dirty where the airflow has been) It might be ok... only one way of finding out really.
Also noted that the drivers seat is a pig to get back cause I have a stove unit built in the back behind it... they are going to need to prop that seat up to work. I could not see the fuel filter. The oil filter looks about right size (although I guess the thread fit is vital as well)

Wishful thinking that that is the correct air filter I think.
Just bought one that at least looks like the one I pulled out billed as Mazda Bongo air filter.
This is why I kind of like servicing myself cause you get to know the basics and don't get stung by buying a filter that does not look right. (should have looked before hand really, you live and learn)
