Gas drop out vent installation - how to stop water coming in

Post by langtoftnick » Wed Jun 04, 2014 11:22 am

I have just bought a bongo and need to sort out a few things that previous owners seem to have overlooked, one of which is gas drop outs as I have to store the gas bottle in the side conversion cupboard.

I have found plastic drop out fittings on ebay etc, but can't work out how you can cut 40mm diameter holes in the floor of your van without water pouring in when you go through a puddle.

First post and I have searched forum so apologise if this is a oft asked question.. couldn't find anything.

There will be more questions..... e.g. any idea why radio won't turn on.. it works in another vehicle and there is power to the rear of the radio when tested at the connector!

TIA

The dropout isn't normally in line with any of the wheels as such so no direct spray, ours is at the rear behind the wheels but inboard of the line of the wheels, never noticed any dampness or marking.

Mine's right in line with a rear wheel, so I stuck a bit of tube to it pointing down, with another mitred on the end pointing back @45° so that the spray / splashes just fly past the end.

Thanks for the quick responses, should have thought of the pipe thing, water doesn't flow uphill!
