Hello everyone;
My apologies if this question has been already posted and it is in the forum somewhere. I don´t know much about engines or mechanics at all, so I rely on your advice which has always been the best
I am planing a trip to Spain in July, my Bongo has just passed its MOT, 2.5 diesel, no major problems at all. I would like to service it before the journey changing oil, filters. What else should I look at? I had this Bongo for 3 years now and never changed the cambelt - Should I change it? How hard is to do this and how much is it ruffly? I am in the Highlands of Scotland

I'd change the cambelt if there's any chance it has done over 60k miles or is over 5 years old. Also check coolant hose condition (esp top hose for bulging) and get a spare set of genuine belts (there are 3 belts). And check brake pads for wear and droplinks and anti-roll bar bushes also. And have you got a coolant alarm fitted? And a spare alternator and starter motor repair kit are not a bad idea. And if it's an AFT make sure you know what to do if the roof sticks open. Check ATF fluid level and condition, and ensure aircon working properly. Phew!

Simon Jones, thank you, I serviced the van every year since I bought it (filters, oil and no much more) but nothing else.

Hello again.
Could anyone recommend me a trusted place on the internet where I can buy oil, fuel and air filters plus cambelt and the other two belts so I can service my 2.5TD 4WD bongo (P reg)
Is there anything else I should buy myself as the garage where am taking it to do the job prefer me to get the parts?

Bongo shop is always a good place to start:

Ian keeps most items in stock & you know they will be the correct part. You can search around & often get some good deals online. I stocked up on Castrol when Halfords were doing an offer & then oil filters & brake pads from EuroCarParts when they were doing 30% off, etc.
If you are doing the cambelt, get the kit with the tensioner & spring too.

and the other two belts so I can service my 2.5TD 4WD ....dont you mean 3 belts with the a/c one and 2 on alternator

The only problem with Ian shop is the delivery charge to the Highlands, it is juicy

Many suppliers have to pass on the additional charges for delivery to the Highlands. You could always arrange your own courier if you know one that doesn't charge a premium. Serves you right for living in such a nice part of the country

I think you best bet is to buy local, Euro car parts, Dingbro, Highland MF, etc etc etc.
Inverness isn't exactly Outer Mongolia ......Yet.
