Heaters should be pushing out hot air. I'd get a specialist to look at it before driving further. Is there evidence of (rust) staining in the header tank?

Well the header tank is a dirty brown colour making it hard to see the level of coolant, but as mentioned in the youtube bleeding video, I was under the impression that pretty much all header tanks were the same!

May have been badly maintained heater matrix could be blocked in consequence. I'd get a specialist to check it out as coolant system may not be functioning effectively.

OK - I found the rear fan isolator down by my right knee as suggested and now I have the rear fan blowing out air, so that little problem is solved. Thanks for the advice there guys!

My next job then is to take the van out this weekend, get it up to temperature and see if I've got heat coming into, then out of the heater matrix. Where would I find that? I've read somewhere that it's located under the air intake in the engine bay - is that right?

there are 2 pipes going through the bulkhead to it

one in one out

as it warms they should both get hot

if one stays very much cooler the rads full of crud

back flush it with a hose

...but don't put too much faith in backflushing. On most occasions, Adrian at Japandirect told me, a new heater radiator is required. He showed me an old one he was changing and the crud was rock hard.
