Injector pump, speedo, hold light
Hi all. Just got my injector pump back after having new seals fitted etc. Refitted it and now am having problems with hold light and erratic speedo. It's a 2.5 diesel auto 1995. Any ideas? Cheers.

Erratic speedo or rev counter? The latter is more likely as the sensor is right by the injector pump & therefore easily disturbed while the speed sensor is at the rear of the gearbox by the propshaft. Other option is the TPS needs adjusting.

Erratic speedo. The van seems to be going into higher gears too early. No way I can put foot down and overtake as gear changes too soon. May have sorted the hold light problem as the "throttle stop switch?" to the left of the pump may not have been closing properly. But yes, speedo misbehaving and also seems to be reading 10mph too high. It has a chip on it.

Hi. By the way how do you adjust the TPS?

The TPS (throttle postition sensor) is responsible for telling the gearbox ECU what your right foot is doing. Was the TPS disturbed during the pump repair? It's on the top of the pump. There's info in the engine manual on how to set it but most people do it by trial and error.

Well, it wouldn't be my first suggestion. The speed sensor, as mentioned before, is at the rear of the gearbox and looks like this:

There is a connection between speed sensor, TPS and hold light but you'll need to investigate the fault codes that can be read from the flashing light. Factsheet here: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... dlight.pdf
