Hi
Depending on what you want, I may have an idea. I have front and rear dog guards in mine, and 3 large dogs...SOOOOO.....I have a plan in mind , but it would be needing a roof rack or trailer, and a knowledge of welding, plus a rear awning....Interested?
Cheers

Interesting.
I can weld ( I work as an engineer so can make most things).
I have aroof rack and trailer?
I need a 8 seater people carrier but also want to take our son camping so Ideally I want to unbolt the seats and bolt a bed / kitchen in so we can cook etc inside, the current rear kitchen is no use when its raining.

Hi
Well...it may not suit, but I was looking at the area where the spare wheel lowering slot is ...IF you can cut 2 similar slots in that panel, you could fit 2 long poles, one either side, and at the outer end fit a folding leg to each, and cross-braces, one at each end, and one in the middle. There's your platform for a bed-board , and throw a tailgate awning and inner tent over it, and you have the makings of a nice comfy bed...off the ground and drafts!.
It would suit us, as the dogs need to be in the caged rear, and can see us in the awning,
Plenty of storage under the bed, and for your purpose, remove the middle seat, and put a cooking range behind the front seat...or use your existing kitchen, whilst sitting on the rear seat. With a small side awning clipped on, you have a massive trailer-tent arrangement!
Did you get the gist of it?
Cheers

Thats an interesting idea.
Not really what I am after as I want a quick easy set up, turn engine off put kettle on.
Its looking like a side mounted pod at the moment but I have seen some good Rock and roll pics

Hi
You can do what Devon Conversions did on VW campers in the '70s...On the front of the rear passenger compartment, they had a cooker unit and cupboard hinged alongside the B pillar, so that you open the sliding door, and swung the cooker out.
As they had the rest of the kitchen inside, with sink and cooler (plaster jacket water drip cooler), it made for a slim conversion, as the sink was tiny.
I found that the original conversion was very badly attached, so I ripped it all out, including the seating, and made my own....BUT, the swing out cooker is particularly adaptable, and could be made to lift off the hinges with a wee bit of imagination!
Cheers

Well it looks like a removable side conversion for me.
Having spoken with my design team, we one of my friends on the way back from the local car boot, we can easily fabricate a rock and roll bed, but it would be quicker to buy one so had a look on Ebay, found a tatty one at 99p rung the bloke and he very kindly sold it to me for £60, so have to try and secure it now, then design the kitchen I have the fridge well I have two if any one wants one? I will use the sink and hob from my old kitchen unless I can find another?
I have some old office furniture I will cut up for a trial run then once it fits I will make a proper one from some nice kitchen chip board.
The bits I need help with is how are peoples rock and roll beds secured?
Any photos of seat belts fitted to them?

Re: Rock and roll bed plans sizes ideas etc
One idea I have had for the Rock and roll bed would be to mount it on to the existing sliders
So it would just be a matter of removing the rear seat and sliders form the floor channel and just unbolting the middle seat, then move the middle seat sliders to the back and bolt the rock and roll bed to them?
So am I mad? would this work?
I realise the cupboard would have to be altered but would I be able to get a donor seat? would it just be easier to bolt to the floor.
Seat belts look to be the biggest issue the issue being you need a mid point to mount the shoulder strap above the passengers shoulder.
Going to buy new having toured the scrappy and looked at a few frayed belts!
I wonder could I use one existing Bongo belt? then the wardrobe side make a bracket that is bolted to the existing mount inside the wardrobe and the floor that would replicate the Bongo position?
