Help identifying mystery switches!

Hi, I've got a V-reg Bongo with a couple of mystery switches that I can't figure out what they do. Does anyone else have anything similar fitted?



The one at the top is a three-position toggle switch, and the lower one is a two-position, which is next to the switch for the LPG supply.

Also, I had to remove my drivers door panel recently, and on the inside saw a box mounted to the panel just under the window switches. It had one cable connected with what looks like a car stereo aerial plug, which was connected, but there was another bunch of cables that were unplugged. The box looks like it was factory-fitted, but what does it do and why is it unplugged? I tried plugging it in, but nothing different happened - the windows still operate as normal as does the central locking. Very odd!

Thanks for the suggestion, but the rear fog is actually controlled from another switch further under the steering column that you can just about make out towards the bottom of the photo - so it's not that.

The central locking can be triggered by a Cobra Bridge 4100 keyfob (which has been having its own problem lately!), but has worked previously when the mystery box was unplugged.

Lol, no nothing obvious happens! The position of the lower of the two switches suggests it might be something to do with the LPG fuel system, so I was interested to know if another owner with an LPG conversion had anything similar.

Oh, and I did contact the previous owner about them, and he had no idea either!

The LPG one may switch manually to petrol if you run out of gas.

Good suggestion, but the little black box with the "A" on it does that!

2-digit binary immobiliser switch ?

Other things could be if not related to your LPG..

1) a switch to disable the Glow Plugs - there's an article on glow plugs in the members section which suggests this as a way of extending their life as you don't necessarily need them to start the car in warm weather
2) Beep Disabler - something that cuts the line to the annoying beep box under the steering wheel that beeps at you whenever you stop the car, open the door, leave the lights on etc..can't remember the exact circumstances because I unplugged mine ages ago !
3) Horn Disabler - something that prevents the horn from sounding when you're camped up with the keys out and accidently lean on the horn (I moved my horn to a different circuit instead that is only live when the ign's on)
4) Day Running Lights or additional front fogs etc ?

Probably find they're isolating switches for circuits that the previous owner removed before selling on e.g my previous owner removed 'most' of the split charge relay circuit...I stipped out about 10 metres of superfluous wiring that seemed to have no use.

Thanks so much for your suggestions - I'll try to shed some light point by point:

1) It's petrol, not diesel so no glow plugs.
2) The beep's already been disabled - by crudely unplugging a cable under the steering column!
3) Good suggestion - I'll check this!
4) The front fogs are activated by a separate switch on the other side of the steering wheel.

I'll check point 3 later today when the Bongo (hopefully) returns from its MOT.

That is actually the best way to do it as its easily reinstated and you don't need to start hacking about with the wiring.

Might be the rear fog lamp switch, put your sidelights on then operate the switch, go round the back and see if the fog lamp is on?
