Bongo Box

Post by roosmith » Fri Apr 25, 2014 4:58 pm

I've been researching for conversions pretty much since I got my Bongo 2 years ago now and not seen exactly what I want, for a price I think is reasonable. I've now come to the conclusion that you can't fit everything I want in and still sleep comfortably (bad backs also play a part) so we're now thinking more seriously about buying a small caravan to compliment the Bongo instead. However we still use the Bongo as a day van for going to motorsport events, so am thinking of getting something simple at the back to allow boiling of a kettle and lots of storage. Looking on here the Bongo Box by Dave Chick probably would have been perfect, however he doesn't make it any more. I know a lot of you are going to say it isn't rock science to build something like that yourself but I don't really have the tools or the ability to do it and make it look half decent.

Does anyone know of something similar - something half storage and half kitchen/day van? Probably mounting on the rear split seats mounting points.

Just get yourself one of them bread trays that the shops get loaves of bread delivered in
They fit lovely under the bench seats and you can put a camp cooker , kettle , saucepans and plates etc in there .
Store in under your back seat
Fold back seat down (and put a bit of board on there for heat protection) put cooker on seat back
You can then stand under tailgate and cook
All fits back under seat when done
You can find them bread trays early in the morning outside shops if you lucky might be full
Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.
