Re: rear wheel arch spats
what kind of money would we be talking about if i took it to a bodyshop?
Re: rear wheel arch spats
ADS in Bristol quoted £900 inc VAT for complete rear wing/arches.
Re: rear wheel arch spats
eeek!!! bloody hell, so with the front wings as well needing doing that's going to cost a pretty penny. i think i've been diddled over this car as it looked really good when i bought it - it was all hidden under fresh paint! i paid £2,500 for it so i'm wondering if i'd be better off just running it round until the mot is due next autumn and save up for a something else.

Re: rear wheel arch spats
£2,500 is probably not a bad price to have paid, assuming the engine etc. is OK. If you have to pay £1k to get the rust sorted out, then £3,500 is about the going price for a good condition Bongo. Or you could leave it as it is and it will probably keep going for another 2 or 3 years.

i've had things checked over and everything seems to be ok with the engine but you know that feeling you have when you're just waiting for something to go wrong with it? that's the feeling i have with this car. i'll see how things go.

Hi hadyn sorry about the late reply. only just got round to sorting mine out due to rain.
I just use wire brush on drill to bare metal, krust jell, then sand and hamerite dtr silver. It comes back sometimes, but I keep reapplying. Slows rust down a good deal, and some treatments no rust came back. I dynatrolled the underneath pretty well so not much rust that end. I'll cover the unsightlyly with rear spats for 70 quid. Will prob last the duration of the van. I will work it for winter however done last 4yrs with no appreciable rust increase

You could buy a hell of a lot of filler and paint for £900
A few hours work every year or 2 with filler and paint will keep it looking ok
