sticking in park position.

Post by grizzlya58 » Thu Apr 17, 2014 9:19 am

hi.can anyone help me with a small problem. when I park my van up at end of day, and put shifter in park.next day when I go out and start up .it seems to be very hard to get it out of park position,it does move eventually, and its fine the rest of the day. it only happens when left overnight.? do you think it is in the huff because I leave it all alone at night. :D any help would be great. I don't want to keep forcing it and end up breaking something, :(

Sounds like the Interlock with the brake pedal ? There is a cable that ensures that the Brake has to be pressed before it comes out of Park;
See http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... o=.html#11 the cable is 46-300

I'm certainly no expert.....but the first thing I would check is the lock mechanism and cable that run from the brake pedal to the shift lever assembly. make sure everything is engaging/dis-engaging ok. other than that....sorry!

Sounds like the cable and or the linkage needs a wee bit of lubrication.

'Tis an easy adjustment if needed..... the plunger under the brake pedal gets all sort of dirt and grunge in it..... remove the panel under the steering column (2 screws on it) then use a torch/lamp to see the cable and lubricate.... if it fails to release after some lube. PM me and I'll give you instructions on how to remove each end and also reset the cable and it's locking set up
