Staggered wheel/tyres for 4wd

Post by meek.tv » Tue Apr 15, 2014 8:23 pm

I'm currently running rx8 alloys with 225 45 18's and I have noticed that the rears need replacing.
Am I correct in thinking that 4wd models originally came with staggered wheels so the rears should be wider? I'm toying with the idea of new wheels so maybe it would be worth getting a staggered set in the first place?
If I do go for new tyres on the existing rx8's instead, would I be better off fitting 245 wide (if they would fit) ??
.......... cycling more.

Your best bet is to have the same size all round. Makes it easier to swap them around to even out the wear. All explained in the factsheet: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... /tyres.pdf

All Bongos had different size fronts and rears as standard, not just 4WD.
I would do as Simon said and fit the same all round - that's certainly what I did 8)

The tyre sizes were different on Bongos with wider tyres on the back but the diameter was the same and must be kept the same for the 4WD
