Fitting Thermostat to Outlet Hose V6

Post by Glenda » Thu Apr 10, 2014 10:52 am

Just got a bargain hose for £10.01 (£15.99 cheaper than Bongoshop). Got the top clip off from the old leaky one but now having trouble accessing bottom clip. Do I need to access from underneath with engine cover off? It seems impossible from the top.

Thanks. It's a V6. I guess I need to go underneath.

I read that you were fitting a thermostat to the outlet hose, but I guess it's a thermostat to outlet hose that you are fitting :). Is it the one from the branch between the heads that goes to the top of the 'stat housing or the one from the bottom? If its the former, you will find the reason for the leak may be corrosion on the alloy pipe which is preventing a good seal. Mine was like that so I had to clean it up & put gasket compound on the pipe to make a good seal.

Is it's the lower one, then it looks like this:

Thanks Simon. :) I have just got the engine cover back on with job done. Then I read your post. I will check how it goes. The old hose was definitely on the way out as a fine spray was coming out of it. I will cross my fingers and hope I don't need to do it again.
