I found a replacement LED tube for the florescent rear one.

Post by somaRich » Thu Apr 03, 2014 11:26 am

I needed a replacement florescent tube for my rear cabin, so did a bit of digging and found this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00C ... UTF8&psc=1
I haven't seen it at night but its definitely brighter than the old florescent tube and should use about 90% less power.

Looks like a good idea, ordered one to see how good!

All flourescent tubes are, the gubbins in the bulb holder is a small inverter.

Judging by this they work OK in Bongos.

I'll take some night shots this weekend so you can see how bright it is (or not!).

Just to be clear, has anyone now fitted theirs and tried it at night and, if so is it brighter and is the light harsher or softer than the standard fluorescent tube. Great find, by the way =D>

Fitted mine and took some shots but I didn't have anything to compare them to as i had no shot of the old tube.
Its definitely brighter than my old tube and just about enough to read by,
Its a very blue light and not as warm as the old tube.
Its not great, I would prefer some brighter LED's and will keep an eye out for an improved version.
Mine came from the UK in a few days.

My old tube was dull so i fitted a new one but it was just as dull and then i found it was because the contacts needed cleaning. After that, even the old one gave really good light - easily enough to read by. So i've had a spare tube for 7 years now!
