I need help again
I am taking our son to a surf festival and the current conversion just wont do as when its raining etc you get wet, so should I go for a pod on either side at the back or a full width one across the rear were the wheel arches become seats?
Also people who have these how did you prep the floor?
I have full length rails and want to be able to remove the kitchen and put the seats back when required.
Floors and which conversion

Re: Floors and which conversion
Hi,
I have a kitchen 'pod' and it works really well for us. I have the middle row of seats reversed so that there's a bit more living space. I have a flip up seat and short rails and never remove the kitchen so it'll be a bit defferent to yours. As far as I can tell keeping your long rails and removing the back bench to fit the kitchen will give you plenty of space to cook etc, and the middle and front seats can then be used as a bed (wish miine did this but that's not the point). The kitchen does come out very easily and uses the rear 12v socket to power the tap. It holds a 9kg gas cylinder and fresh and waste water as well as leaving a small amount of storage space.
When I first got it it was just in on top of the original carpet but since then I've put in lino (shaped around the runners and that looks really good and cleans easily (handy for a surfing festival).
Hope this helps in any way
Jane

Have you any pics?
This is what we have now.

It was designed and built so we would be classed as a camper for the insurance and still have 8 seats when we need them. Its great unless its windy and wet.
I want to be able to keep the versatility.
I do like the ones across the rear that can be used from inside or out but a pod is cheaper and easier to make too, just kicking my self as we had a pod but didn't use it so I sold it but didn't keep the plans.
So Pod
Easier to make
Cheaper
Across the back
Harder to make.
More expensive
I have a spare fridge to fit it.
Could use my existing hob and sink to save money
Best use of the space.
Only slightly longer to fit.
More storage
I am going to look at both second hand as some times the materials can cost more than a bought one.
Keep the ideas coming please
