What Make of Leisure Battery

Post by jnuts » Sat Mar 15, 2014 12:50 pm

I've got everything I need to fit my leisure battery set up...except the battery.

I was looking at the Low Height Xplorer 110Ah as I think I've seen others say it fits:

Question is, are they good quality, or is it worth spending more on a Banner Energy Bull, or Varta?

Hi
You get what you pay for in a battery in my view having said that i use one of these.

but that due to I'm not only using it for camping, it would be overkill for just camping.
Varta are good reliable batteries,
are you putting in a split charge system?
Bongo now work later !!! :) :)

yer pays yer money....but most of these Low Line Leisure's have been developed with the T5 VW in mind among others... and as far I as I can gather... they are squat but with the same qualities as the larger physical sized ones..... a caveat on those is...that tests from MMM & the Caravan Club BOTH tests found that some batteries are not as they claim power wise ( a yellow/black 5yr gtee one as an example) and also some had small plates akin to starter batteries and filled out with glass fibre...in a large case.
If a low line is available with a decent guarantee from a well known supplier...go for it..

Those low line batteries with the inset terminals are made to fit pre-2007 Fiat Ducato based m/homes where the leisure battery is fitted under the driver's seat. They cannot be any taller or they will not fit under the runners and the terminals have to be inset, rather than proud of the battery top, so the seat runners do not short them out.

I have one on my motorhome and it has been excellent, 2 years so far and it gets heavier use than on the Bongo.
