Replace steering rack gaiter?

I'm going to replace the track rod ends soon as the boots are wearing out and I think I may as well replace the whole thing while I'm there. With the track rod ends removed it looks like a good opportunity to renew the steering rack gaiters at the same time - has anyone done this, is it relatively easy with the rack still in the car and can anyone recommend a good source of gaiters as genuine ones don't seem to be available?
